From another side of Baltic Sea, from Oulu, Finland:

Well, Lithuania... so close to Finland but still so far away. I've heard that you guys have R-kiosks too, just like here in Finland. But I am not sure if it's true... So maybe I would survive if I someday have a chance to visit Lithuania. Well, to be honest my friend visited Vilna some time ago and she told me that you have great food (and rich food culture) but however your coffee wasn't as good as ours. Here is already two believe not to believe things why I have to check your country... maybe already next summer!

Lithuanian Basketball, Jonas Kazlauskas and Other

Impressive knowledge from Beijing, China:

         Most our Chinese classmates know Lithuanian play basketball brilliant! A former coach of Chinese National Basketball Team is from Lithuania Jonas Kazlauskas. They know Lithuania is in Eastern Europe. I like history, so I know a little more. Lithuania is one of the Baltic country, capital Vilnius. Once allied with Poland and form a Federation. Then being eaten by Russian. After the October Revolution being independent again. Being eaten by Soviet Union again just before Germany occupation. Then becoming one republic in the Union till 1990, becoming the FIRST nation independent from the Soviet Union. After a conflict, the Union finally give up. Then I don't know anything, to tell you the truth.

National courses. Potatoes is one of the most important element of Lithuanian dish, but people also eat much fish and any pies. I heard that not numerous nation from oriental lands inhabit in country and they cook amazing meatpies which called 'kibinai', these pies are bought by tourist beside the Trakai castle.

Lithuania was a part of Rzecz Pospolita. Poles took their nearest neighbours for perilous wizards, because a lot of population lived on territory surrounded by forests and swamps. 

I heard that Lithuanians had plenty of pagan Gods, more than one hundred; Perkūnas's supremacy divinity of thunder and lightening, perhaps, you know, Slavic people believed similar God what was called Perun. I like mystery story about Gediminas dream and building Vilnius (Iron wolf)... And great to hear - unusual place Cross' museum on open air situated just in Lithuania.

I would like to say few phrases about literature of your native country. When I was a child I used to enjoy Lithuanian national fairytale ''Egle's Grass-snake's Queen'', later I read excellent poem about these personages by S.Neris. I have illustrated tales' book where Lithuanian girl in folk clothes was showed... Sure I read poems by well-known Adam Mickiewisz, especially I loved 'Gražina'. But in my opinion, one of the most interesting narrative about Lithuania become P.Merime story 'Lokis', it's very exciting.

Where is the geographical centre of Europe?

I don't know so much about Lithuania. I think I once read that it is the geographical centre of Europe - is this true? A friend told me you have beautiful forests.


 Talking about the geographical heart of Europe there are many countries (Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus etc.) claiming to have it on their teritory, but Lithuania seems to have the strongest claim confirmed by the French National Geographical Institut.
